Annelies Loibl is a doctor and founder of ATTIÈL. How did the cosmetics line come about, where does the name come from and what is important to Annelies? All answers in the interview.

COSMETICS FROM ATTIÈL MADE IN AUSTRIA

The Austrian cosmetics line ATTIÈL relies on a plant-based care concept and combines mindfulness and knowledge: with proven ingredients from nature, a mindful philosophy and knowledge from preventive medicine as a basis. ATTIÈL was founded by Annelies Loibl. She is a general practitioner and works holistically in her practice in Upper Austria, with a focus on prevention and quality of life. Micronutrient and hormone analyzes and intestinal health are of great importance. In an interview, Annelies explains how ATTIÈL came about, what the cosmetics line stands for and what is important to her personally.

HOW THE IDEA CAME ABOUT ATTIÈL?

Annelies: Like many things in life, things happen that you would actually never plan. Due to my holistic approach, I have always been fascinated by the spectrum of effects of plants. Gradually, as a balance to my medical work, I also dealt with the nurturing properties of plants and experimented a lot with oils and hydrolates myself. Until then, I had missed the sensual aspect of existing natural cosmetics. On the one hand, cosmetics have to work, but they also have to touch the senses, with pleasant textures, fragrant scents and a very appealing look. This is how ATTIÈL came about: with a lot of love, mindfulness and knowledge. For all skin types, all ages, all genders. ATTIÈL cosmetics should be an important interface to well-being in your own skin. 

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FROM THE IDEA TO THE FINISHED PRODUCT?

Annelies: I worked intensively on the concept for over two years, starting with the initial idea, through several development loops, to the finished product range.

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT ATTIÈL?

Annelies: The skin should be well cared for and nourished. Compositions of floral water, plant oils and extracts do this wonderfully. ATTIÈL stands for holistic unisex skin care with a high concentration of natural ingredients. I consciously use rose water in a highly concentrated form in the entire line, because as an ingredient it has a multi-layered spectrum of effects.

ATTIÈL DOES NOT USE EXOTIC INGREDIENTS AND UNNECESSARY STRESS.

Annelies: Yes, exactly. It is important to me that the key ingredients come from Europe's garden, because high-end cosmetics do not need any exotic active ingredients. Our skin also doesn't need mineral oils, silicones, parabens and synthetic preservatives to look good. I also want to consciously do without plastic and rely on high-quality dark violet lenses, this avoids the transfer of microplastics into the textures.

WHAT DOES THE NAME MEAN ATTIÈL?

Annelies: ATTIÈL is an artificial word, created from the five first letters of the first names of my family of 5 (Annelies, Thomas, Theo, Isa, Elias). The L at the end is the first letter of my family name (Loibl). All family members provided valuable input when creating ATTIÈL, it was and is a cross-generational project, so to speak. 

ATTIÈL stands for "together" and also symbolizes what is most important to me. In addition to nature, my family has always been my anchor and source of energy.

The French pronunciation because I am always drawn to the south of France: there I can really recharge my batteries, immerse myself in a relaxed “savoir vivre”, surrounded by beautiful Mediterranean nature, away from the well-known French Riviera hustle and bustle.
